TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE
BY JENNY HAN

GENRE : YOUNG ADULT

SYNOPSIS :

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister’s ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

REVIEW :

I really like reading the book like this because the storyline is so simple and easy to read..I can relate this story to my love story in real life.

But it just made no sense why the boys like her after reading her letters. Why not they confessed their love before receiving the letters? It's so weird.
I didn’t understand Lara Jean’s need to fake a boyfriend and pretend in front of the others. It didn’t add much to the story, except for confusion and unnecessary (teenage) drama, as the relationship dynamics did not improve, but on the contrary. And then there was the big sister and the ex-boyfriend, and the misunderstandings and some more confusion and.. wait for it.. some more drama. *double sigh*😡

But from the first few chapters I had this distinct idea of what would happen, and I was sort of dreading it. It wasn't until almost half way that I started to realize how wrong I was. I knew there was a sequel, I knew it, and yet when the pages left started to dwindle, and everything wasn't happy ever after, I started to panic. I was so engrossed in Lara Jean's story, I wanted it all to work out and be wrapped up in a little bow. And instead, of course, of course, there was a cliff hanger. Why do you do this to me Jenny Han? My heart can't take it.

It's kind of funny how much I connected with Lara Jean, considering we are quite different. She's so good and pure. I remember there's this scene where she found out that someone cheated on a quiz in 7th grade and she was appalled. And all I can think is hasn't everyone cheated at least once? I remember high school, some teachers practically asked you to cheat. Even in AP courses, teachers stepping out for 5 minutes in the middle of the test, allowing 2 days to complete tests, giving take home tests, and of course the students are going to compare answers. But she still had spunk, and a wild side, and I wonder how couldn't you connect with her?

I loved the family dynamic between Lara Jean, Margot, Kitty and their dad. They fight sometimes, but they are always there for each other, they support each other, like a real family. It's always so good to read a contemporary romance where the family play an important role. I also like Josh, and Peter, and Peter's friends.

This book was such a quick fun read, and I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel. Like, now, preferably.

P.S I STILL LOVE YOU
BY JENNY HAN

GENRE        : YOUNG ADULT

SYNOPSIS :

This book is the sequel to To All the Boys I've Loved BeforeAfter the fight that occurred at the Coveys' recital party, Lara Jean realizes that she has fallen for Peter. Hoping to reconcile, Lara Jean heads over to Peter's house with the love letter she hoped for him to read. After a brief talk, the two kiss and decide they want to be a real couple. At school, Lara Jean discovers that someone going by the name of Anonybitch has posted a video of Lara Jean and Peter making out in the hot tub on the day of the ski trip. A rumor goes around the school that the two were having sex. After seeing the video distributed around school, one at a schooled assembly, Peter gets furious and goes on stage to warn Anonybitch to not mess with Lara Jean.
Before Margot leaves to go back to Scotland, she tells Lara Jean to get a job. Taking Margot's advice, Lara Jean volunteers to start a scrapbooking class at Belleview, where she meets Stormy, an elderly woman who has a feisty temper. Stormy gives Lara Jean relationship advice, all while being nosy about Lara Jean's relationship.
One day, Lara Jean receives a letter from the mail from John Ambrose McClaren, telling her that he received the love letter she wrote him. Lara Jean and John start to converse through letters to one another. They quickly become pen pals and when Lara Jean finds out that the neighborhood tree house she and her middle school friends used to hang out in and where they buried a time capsule In will soon be cut down, she decides to throw a going away reunion party and invites John. In the mean time, Lara Jean and Peter's relationship is a bit strained because Peter is spending a lot of time with his ex Genievive. At the treehouse party Peter brings Genievive while knowing Lara Jean purposefully didn't want her to come. Lara Jean also finds out that Peter and Gen were hanging out before the party, prompting her to become suspicious, and a little jealous, of Peter and Gen's 'relationship'. Throughout the treehouse party, Lara Jean distracts herself from Peter by focusing on her childhood friend John Ambrose McClaren.

REVIEW:
Okay. Admittedly it wasn't as good as the first, but I've said it before but I'll say it again: Jenny Han knows how to make us fall in love with the characters in her books... first in Shug, then The Summer I Turned Pretty (one of my FAVORITE books of all time) and now To All the Boys I've Loved Before. She knows how to expose their flaws along with their positive sides. Peter K isn't perfect, but his charm just won me over. Gen, I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of, but in P.S. I Still Love You, I got a glimpse of what made her the way she is and then I didn't hate her as much

The Peter/Lara Jean relationship isn't perfect, either, but I guess that's one of the aspects that makes this duology (hopefully trilogy?) special in the current realm of YA romance. There are bumps, and there are high points; it's not the unrealistic, lovey-dovey kind of relationship that's perfect all the time, but that is precisely what made me like this book so much.

From what i had been read from Between The Line, Peter didn't truly love Lara Jean. He still loved her ex - GF... But after reading this book, I knew that he loved Lara Jean sincerely..But honestly, I just wanted Lara Jean to be with John Ambrose McClaren. Lara Jean would get a bright future if she was with him. John Ambrose McClaren is my ideal type of guy...Smart guys, I really admired them...😍

However, there are no words for how much I loved this book. Everything was so amazing and beautiful. By far one of my favorite books that I've ever read.

I love Jenny Han's writing, it's is so beautiful and poetic. Everything is so well described and well imagined. I just adored the characters. I love Lara Jean even though sometimes I was frustrated with her. I can't even put into words how much I love Peter. I was sometimes frustrated with him as well, but that just shows how well Jenny Han can write. She created characters that I was completely emotionally invested in and had flaws but I still loved them anyway.

I seriously could go on and on about much I loved this book. It’s hard for me to put my intense love for this book into coherent thoughts. I just loved the characters and plot so much. I loved the character development and how this whole book seemed to really be about Lara Jean and her learning about herself. Yes, it's a romance but that not all it is. It's a fun read with depth and meaning. I just loved everything about this series so much.

Happy Reading Guys....

I am so sorry again because i can't give you the ebook of this book right now. The data of  this ebook had been gone and it seemed like i forgot where I had been saved the data. SHUG
BY JENNY HAN

GENRE        : YOUNG ADULT

SYNOPSIS :
Twelve-year-old Annemarie has just discovered that she likes Mark --- not the kind of like that has kept them friends since they were five, but a different kind of like that involves holding hands and first kisses. Unfortunately, he only sees her as just one of his pals. And even that status seems to be slipping.
At the end of the annual summer pool party, for the first time Mark doesn't defend her against the annoying and insulting Jack. Not that Annemarie can't defend herself (she does, challenging Jack to a diving contest that puts him in his place); it's just that Mark has always been on her side, until now. And then, on the first day of junior high, Mark fails to show up at her door so they can walk together to the bus stop like they've done every school morning since the beginning of time. Friendship boundaries seem to be shifting, and Annemarie is not happy.
Home life is shifting as well. Her parents and older sister Celia continue to call her Shug, short for Sugar and also a character in her mom's favorite book. But her dad, often away on business, is coming home less often. Her mom, never one for cooking and PTA meetings, is drinking more and more and available less and less. Fifteen-year-old Celia used to let Annemarie tag along occasionally, but even Celia doesn't seem to have much time for her anymore. Then there's the fighting. When her parents are together, the arguments become unbearable. She fears divorce may be looming in the future. With all the scary and unwanted changes exploding in her life, Annemarie just wishes things would go back to the way they were.

REVIEW:
Author Jenny Han has written an incredible first novel. The plot is heartwrenchingly familiar as almost everyone has gone or is going through the same mixed up stuff as the characters. Han nails the emotional storms that rage through Annemarie as life around her grows and changes while she clings to the old times. Han's characters are diverse and very believable, especially Annemarie, who's strong and tough on the outside yet vulnerable and afraid on the inside. Readers will relate to every misadventure Annemarie survives.

Truthfully, I wasn't expecting to feel this way about a novel geared towards middle schoolers. I read this because it was the only Jenny Han novel I haven't read and, boy, was I missing out. This was told from a 12 year olds perspective but I was still moved.

Shug is about a girl moving from elementary to middle school and all of the emotions and tribulations that come with that. I can distinctly remember being that age. Everything felt so important and everything is the end of the world. Shug is a lot like that. Shug also has family issues and she ends up having to deal with adult things at a young age.

Han is still funny and charming and I love her even more now.

Sometimes you'll read a book that will choke you up. Rarely will I read a book that makes me flat out bawl...in a good way. Shug by Jenny Han (Alladin Mix, 2007), is one such book, and it has instantly become one of my favorite tween YA novels. Han grabs you immediately with Shug's authentic voice and sharp point of view.

The novel is all about the way things change once you enter middle school, whether you are ready or not. It starts in summer just before school starts, and already things are different. For one thing, Shug is suddenly seeing her best friend in a different and romantic light, but he doesn't notice at all. And then there is the whole friend thing. What do you do when your other best friend (who is a girl) suddenly befriends some popular girls, and gets a boyfriend? Where do you fit in then? And how do you be a good person when you are sitting at the lunch table with this popular crowd, barely hanging onto the right to sit there, and another girl, who used to be your friend but also makes the popular's eyes roll, walks by, and obviously has no one to sit with? Do you commit social suicide and invite her, or do you avert your eyes and shut up?

Oh how well I remember those painful moments. Shug experiences the guilt and the sadness of being on both sides of the story. She finds herself being part of the crowd that is nasty, as well as being shunned by the nasty crowd. We've all experienced both sides, and at some point we all have to decide just who are we? What do we stand for? What is really important? And can we ever forgive ourselves or others for being such horrible jerks?

If you are going into middle school, read this book. If you've ever been through middle school, read this book. And love this book. It is unforgettable.
